On the 30th Anniversary of the album's release, Love As Fiction Records is proud to present Glide's 1995 album, Open Up and Croon on vinyl for the first time. The album will be pressed at Suitcase Records in Australia on 180g black vinyl, with the lacquer cut and stamper made at Abbey Road studios. The 30th Anniversary artwork has been restored by Marc Lynch (Glide) and updated for the reissue with a special 8 page colour booklet with liner notes by Barry Divola (journalist, author & musician) and John Tingwell (former editor of Drum Media), (booklet and jacket printed in Australia).
Glide was a Sydney-based indie rock band formed in 1991 and fronted by William Arthur. They released their debut album, Open Up & Croon (produced by Paul McKercher, engineered by Paul McKercher and Wayne Connolly), in 1995 and went on to tour with bands like Blur and Lush. Their second album, Disappear Here, was released in 1996. Glide's music, characterized by Arthur's darkly evocative lyrics and unique sense of harmony, had a significant impact on the Sydney music scene of the '90s. William sadly passed in 1999.
This reissue has been produced in consultation and collaboration with the surviving members of Glide and their manager Joe Ryall, along with William's family, with the grateful assistance of APRA AMCOS.
Glide are also featured in Ben DeHoedt's 2025 documentary "Disappear Here" which has selected screenings in Australia, more information on Ben's website.
